Price doesn't guarantee success. It's the lesson an actuator supplier to a large aerospace manufacturer learned about the ball screws it was using. Although the thread ground parts were extremely expensive to produce, they often had to be replaced because of fatigue failure. But all was not lost: The company found substantial saving when it discovered PST, which developed a high-quality rolled screw that replaced the existing ground part. In addition to saving initial dollars, the supplier is now able to provide a service-life guarantee because the new thread rolled screws are made from a corrosion-resistant grade of material. Which virtually guarantees its success in the aerospace application. Secondary Operations Our CNC machining centers make minimum machining time possible. They feature plus or minus .0004" positioning accuracy on X,Y,Z A & B axes, linear, circular and helical interpolation. For quicker production and to maintain your close tolerances on long runs, we use a 150 HP centerless bar grinder that's laser controlled. The laser continually measures the bar exiting the grinding wheel, and can grind bars up to 13" diameter and 40' in length. We also have smaller centerless grinders for thru-feed and in-feed work.
